What is The MBS Method?

To achieve optimal health, we need to understand the importance of the body, mind and soul and how they work together to build our overall wellbeing. A healthy mind keeps us engaged and focused. A healthy body keeps us psychically well and active. A healthy soul keeps us content, fulfilled and at peace with ourselves and the world.

The body, mind, and soul are so deeply connected to each other that they form a cycle in which each aspect is influenced by the other two. Depending on whether there is a state of harmony or disharmony between these three aspects, a cycle of health or disease is formed. It is a delicate balance.

The MBS Method at Calm Souls Therapy embraces the understanding of this deep interconnection and uses this in the therapeutic process to ensure the mind, body and soul work in balance and harmony together to help provide optimal overall health and wellbeing.

We can feed and nourish our soul by making time for things we enjoy doing and following our interests and passions. Through expressing our creativity, inspirations and visions we can feel joy, accomplishment, contentment and peace. There are many ways of nourishing your soul and it is important to give yourself time to discover your preferred method of comfort and calm. What works for one person may not work for others so it is vital to try out different mindfulness techniques to cultivate the most soul soothing remedy for you. Whether it be meditating, taking time in nature, painting, reading, learning something new or getting out in the fresh air-there will be something you will find enjoyment and pleasure in. This will allow your mind to quieten from the world and quench your thirsty soul.

Consequently, this has a positive effect on our minds. As we recognise these positive emotions and thoughts, we have a more positive relationship with ourselves and, in turn, with others and with the world and how we perceive it. We can challenge our core beliefs, accept problems as challenges that we must overcome and retrain our brain with new suggestions and thought patterns.

This directs us into the third aspect of the cycle – the physical body. As our only means in a physical world, the body is a reflection of our mind and soul. Through self care and love of our soul and mind we can also love and care for our physical body. We can do this by engaging in regular exercise and by eating a healthy, nourishing diet.

Through nourishment of our mind, body and soul we can feel physically well, energised and motivated to continue with a positive infinite cycle of wellbeing. The outcome of this is a flourished and nourished state of health in all three aspects which flow harmoniously together, making us feel whole, balanced and well. This is what harmony of the body, mind, and soul is all about!

Consistent with the fact that the 3 aspects can bring a cycle of positive harmony when working together in balance, an imbalance can undoubtedly create a cycle of negative disharmony when one of the aspects is out of balance. This ultimately can manifest as disease. Think of disease as something that creates discomfort for you. Think of it not as the word you know: that is, disease meaning illness. Think of it as the opposite of comfort, the opposite of ease: that is, dis-ease. What is your immediate reaction to something that makes you feel uncomfortable? You remove that thing, or move yourself away from it. So it should be with dis-ease. You have to move towards ease. In the dis-ease cycle, if we don’t invest time in ourselves, for our interests and passions our soul is ‘starved’ leading us to no longer feel joy and fulfilment in our lives. This imbalance of the 3 aspects leave our minds, bodies and souls discontent, distressed and ravenous for nourishment and healing.

If we allow dis-ease to permeate our day to day lives these negative feelings and emotions will become stronger, permitting negative thought patterns to continue in a cycle of disharmony. It is possible the root of this disharmony is buried within our subconscious and can therefore only be recognised if brought to the forefront of our consciousness. This can be achieved through the means of mindfulness techniques, such as meditation.

The good news is that we can break free from the dis-ease cycle!

Instead of seeing your difficulties as an affliction, perceive them as a driving force from the universe to restore and unify you with your true self. Take this opportunity to correct and re-align your path to find your contentment in life. In order to do this, take a deeper look into each of the three aspects of your being – the body, mind, and soul – and strive to bring about the necessary changes in order to create a state of balance, harmony and ease.
